adrenergic cell groups
Acronym:
The term adrenergic cell groups refers to collections of neurons in the central nervous system that stain for PNMT, the enzyme that converts norepinephrine to epinephrine (adrenalin). Thus, it is postulated that the neurotransmitter they produce may be epinephrine (adrenalin) . Located in the medulla, they are named C1 cell group, C2 cell group, and C3 cell group ( Smeets-1994 ).
