area IB of Bonin (IB)

The term area IB of Bonin refers to an area of the insula in the macaque as defined by cytoarchitecture. Located in the posterior part of the insula, it was identified by the authors as homologous to the human area IB of Economo-1929 ( Bonin-1947 ).
