isthmus of the hindbrain

The term isthmus of the hindbrain refers to a composite substructure of pontine tegmentum at its junction with the midbrain. It includes the superior medullary velum, the superior cerebellar peduncle and the decussation of the trochlear nerve ( Carpenter-1983 ).
