anterior transverse temporal gyrus (TTGa) The term
anterior transverse temporal gyrus (TTGa) refers to the more
rostral of two or three short oblique convolutions in the inferior wall of the
lateral fissure (ltf) of the
human (
Carpenter-1983 ). Identified by dissection, they are located on the upper surface of the
superior temporal gyrus ,(STG)
rostral and
medial to the
planum temporale (PTE). The more
caudal convolution is the
posterior transverse temporal gyrus (TTGp). Transverse temporal gyri are not seen in the
macaque (
Mesulam-1985 ) nor in the smooth
cerebral cortex (CTX) of the
rat or
mouse (
