The term accessory nerve nuclei refers to a set of structures in the medulla and spinal cord. It includes caudal portions of the nucleus ambiguus of the medulla and the nucleus of the spinal part of the accessory nerve, which is located in the spinal cord ( Carpenter-1983 ).
