intralingual sulcus (ils)

The term intralingual sulcus refers to a groove located within the boundaries of the lingual gyrus in the human. Identified by dissection, it is oriented parallel to the inferior margin of the occipital lobe ( Ono-1990; Duvernoy-1992 ). It is not found in the macaque or in the smooth cerebral cortex of the rat or mouse ( NeuroNames ).
