molecular layer of the CA fields (CAmo)
The term
molecular layer of the CA fields refers to the outermost of three histologically defined layers of the
CA fields in the functionally defined
hippocampal complex. It consists of three strata:
stratum lacunosum moleculare,
stratum radiatum and
stratum lucidum. The other layers are the pyramidal layer of the
CA fields and oriens layer of the
CA fields. All of the layers and strata are found in
CA fields of the
human (
Insausti-2012 ),
macaque (
Paxinos-2009a ),
rat (
Swanson-2004 ) and
mouse (
Franklin-2008 ). Updated 3 Jun 2024 ).
Also known as: molecular layer of the hippocampus, Stratum moleculare, molecular layer of the CA fields
