septal area

The term septal area refers to a composite structure of the cerebrum that consists of the subcallosal gyrus and the paraterminal gyrus ( Carpenter-1983 ). For a review of semantic differences in the use of the word "septal" and the various components attributed to it, see Anthoney-1994.
