The term corticofugal fibers refers to fibers that project from the cerebral cortex to nuclear masses in the brainstem and spinal cord. They include corticostriate fibers, corticopontine fibers, corticobulbar fibers and fibers of the corticospinal tract ( Carpenter-1991 )
