The term posterior division of the ventral posterior lateral nucleus refers to one of two subdivisions of the caudal part of the ventral posterolateral nucleus of the thalamus based on connectivity. The other subdivision is the anterior division of the ventral posterior lateral nucleus ( Hirai-1989 ).
