The term accessory neurosecretory nuclei refers to collections of cells located between the supraoptic nucleus and the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus in the anterior hypothalamic region. Some authors include the intermediate nucleus of the preoptic area in this category ( Saper-1990 ).
