head of the posterior horn

The term head of the posterior horn refers to an oval or fusiform part of the posterior gray column of the spinal cord ( Gray-1918a; Crosby-1962 ). At its widest it corresponds approximately to the junction of the histologically defined lamina II and lamina III ( Jastrow-2007 ).
