visceral cortex

The term visceral cortex refers to a combination of two structures in the cerebral cortex of the rat: the granular insula, which is known functionally as the visceral area, on the lateral surface of the hemisphere and the infralimbic area on the medial surface near the genu of the corpus callosum ( Swanson-2004 ).
