vagal complex
The term vagal complex refers to a composite structure consisting of three nuclei in the dorsomedial part of the medulla beneath the floor of the fourth ventricle. Described in many mammals and birds. It consists of the area postrema, the solitary nucleus and the dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus nerve ( Duvernoy-2007 ).
