noradrenergic cell groups

The term noradrenergic cell groups refers to collections of neurons in the central nervous system that have been demonstrated by histochemical fluorescence to contain the neurotransmitter norepinephrine (noradrenalin) ( Smeets-199486 ). They are named A1 cell group, A2 cell group, A4 cell group, A5 cell group, A6 cell group, A7 cell group ( Smeets-1994 ), A6sc cell group ( German-1975 ) and Acg cell group ( Felten-1983 ).

Also known as: noradrenergic cell groups, NE cell groups, NA cell groups, noradrenergic nuclei

Monoamine Cell Groups

are collections of neurons in the central nervous system that have been demonstrated by histochemical fluorescence to contain one of the neurotransmitters serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine ( Fuxe-1970 ) or epinephrine ( Kitahama-1994 ). They are classified respectively as serotonergic cell groups, dopaminergic cell groups, noradrenergic cell groups and adrenergic cell groups.
