juxtaparaventricular region

The term juxtaparaventricular region refers to one of twenty six regions, zones, and nuclei that constitute the motor lateral hypothalamus in the rat. Defined on the basis of cytoarchitecture and connections, it is a group of small, moderately packed neurons located lateral to the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus. Functionally it belongs to the brainstem motor system ( Swanson-2004 ).
