The term dorsal layers of the lateral geniculate nucleus refers to one of two parts of the lateral geniculate nucleus in the human. It includes layers 3 to 6 , which are composed of small cells (parvicellular laminae). The other part consists of the ventral layers of the lateral geniculate nucleus, layers 1 and 2, which are composed of large cells (magnoicellular laminae) ( Carpenter-1983 ).
