area 10d (10d)
The term
area 10d (10d) refers to a functionally identified part of
cerebral cortex (CTX) at the
frontal pole (frp) in the
human (
Glasser-2016 ). Topologically it is located in the
superior frontopolar gyrus (FPGs) of the
frontopolar area (FPA) (
Mai-1997 ). Histologically it is entirely part of the granular cortical
area 10p of
area 10 (
Ongur-2003 ). It greatly overlaps areas referred to by other authors as Fp1 and Fp2 (
Glasser-2016 ).
A histological equivalent of
Area 10d is not found in the
macaque (
Carmichael-1994 ) nor in the the
rat or
mouse (
Wise-2008 ).
Area 10d is fMRI-deactivated in GAMBLING tasks.
