The term area 15 of Mauss (15) refers to an area identified by internal structure (myeloarchitecture) in the macaque. It is located primarily in the insula (INS) with extension to the frontal operculum (OPRfr) ; Mauss regarded it as equivalent to the area identified by cytoarchitecture as area 15 of Brodmann (guenon) ( Mauss-1908 ).
