The term area 4 of Mauss refers to a subdivision of the precentral gyrus of the macaque and the guenon defined on the basis of myeloarchitecture. Mauss regarded it as topologically homologous to the cytoarchitectonic area 4 of Brodmann (guenon) ( Mauss-1908 ).
