The term area 21 of Mauss refers to a subdivision of the temporal lobe of the macaque and the guenon; it is defined on the basis of myeloarchitecture. Mauss regarded it as topologically homologous to the cytoarchitectonic area 21 of Brodmann (guenon) ( Mauss-1908 ).
