The term anterior thalamic radiations, or Radiationes thalamicae anteriores, refers to fiber pathways that connect the anterior nuclear group and the midline nuclear group of the thalamus with the frontal lobe through the anterior thalamic peduncle, the anterior limb of internal capsule and other parts of the cerebral white matter. They are not readily distinguished in myelin-stained histological cross-sections. For a detailed discussion of semantic differences in the use of terms relating to the thalamic peduncles and the thalamic radiations see Anthoney-94. |
