The term central tegmental tract, or Tractus tegmentalis centralis, refers to a pathway containing fibers from midbrain nuclei that project to the inferior olivary complex, as well as fibers originating in the pontine reticular formation and medullary reticular formation that project to several nuclei of the thalamus. It is a composite structure consisting of the central tegmental tract of midbrain and the central tegmental tract of pons. |
