cerebral association fibers


The term cerebral association fibers, or Neurofibrae associationes, denotes fibers in the telencephalon that connect areas of the cerebral cortex within the same hemisphere. Major structures in which they are found include the cingulum and other parts of the cerebral white matter, the external capsule, the extreme capsule, the arcuate fasciculus, the uncinate fasciculus of forebrain, the inferior longitudinal fasciculus, the superior longitudinal fasciculus, the inferior occipitofrontal fasciculus, and the superior occipitofrontal fasciculus.
