The term deep tegmental gray, or Nucleus mesencephalicus profundus, refers to a composite substructure of midbrain tegmentum that includes the magnocellular part of red nucleus, the dorsal nucleus of lateral lemniscus, the peripeduncular nucleus and certain nuclei of the midbrain reticular formation including the cuneiform nucleus, the subcuneiform nucleus, the pedunculopontine tegmental nucleus and the linear nucleus. It also includes the nucleus intracuneiformis and the nucleus parabrachialis pigmentosus. |
