frontopolar area 12 (M)

The term frontopolar area 12 (M), or Feld 12 Area frontopolaris (M), refers to a subdivision of the cytoarchitecturally defined frontal region of cerebral cortex. It occupies the most rostral portion of the frontal lobe in the monkey (Cercopithecus). The same area in the macaque was subsequently regarded as cytoarchitecturally equivalent to frontopolar area 10 in the human (Walker-40).
