The term hippocampal region, or Regio hippocampica, refers to a cytoarchitecturally defined portion of the cerebral cortex. It is largely located on the medial surface of the temporal lobe adjacent to the hippocampal formation. It is composed of the presubiculum (area 27 of Brodmann), the entorhinal area (entorhinal area 28 and dorsal entorhinal area 34 (H)) and the perirhinal area 35 and the retrosubicular area 48. |
