lateral zone of hypothalamus


The term lateral zone of hypothalamus refers to one of three zones of the hypothalamus when it is subdivided by planes parallel to the midline. The others are the periventricular zone of hypothalamus and the medial zone of hypothalamus. The lateral zone includes the lateral preoptic nucleus and the lateral hypothalamic area.
