occipital region


The term occipital region, or Regio occipitalis, refers to a cytoarchitecturally defined portion of the cerebral cortex. It occupies most of the occipital lobe and a portion of the temporal lobe. It is composed of the striate area 17, the parastriate area 18 and the peristriate area 19.
