The term parietal region, or Regio parietalis, refers to a cytoarchitecturally defined portion of the cerebral cortex. It occupies most of the parietal lobe caudal to the postcentral gyrus. It is bounded approximately by the postcentral sulcus, the subparietal sulcus and the parieto-occipital sulcus. It is composed of the preparietal area 5, the superior parietal area 7 (H), the supramarginal area 40 (H) and the angular area 39 (H). |
