prefrontal cortex (Zilles)


The term prefrontal cortex (Zilles) refers to a cytoarchitecturally defined composite substructure of the frontal lobe. It includes the frontal region and two areas in the cingulate region, namely, the dorsal anterior cingulate area 32 and the ventral anterior cingulate area 24. The latter two areas together are referred to as medial prefrontal cortex.
