Purkinje cell layer

The term Purkinje cell layer, or Stratum neuronorum piriformium, is a cytoarchitectural term denoting the middle layer of cerebellar cortex. This layer is characterized by very large, bottle-shaped neurons that are regularly spaced and possess flattened fanlike dendritic arborizations, which extend into the more superficial molecular layer.
