rhinencephalon (Crosby)


The term rhinencephalon (Crosby) refers to a composite substructure of the telencephalon. Identified functionally with olfaction, it is defined on the basis of comparative anatomy to include the olfactory bulb, the olfactory tract, the anterior olfactory nucleus, the anterior perforated substance, the subcallosal area, the diagonal band, the nucleus of diagonal band, the prepyriform area, the parahippocampal gyrus, the hippocampal formation and the cingulate gyrus.
