The term secondary somesthetic area refers to a functionally defined substructure of the parietal lobe that represents the somesthetic sensibility of the body in reverse sequence to that of the primary somesthetic area. In the human it is located along the superior bank of the lateral sulcus of the cerebral cortex; in the macaque it is located deep in the lateral sulcus. |
