spinal cord

The term spinal cord, or Medulla spinalis, refers to the long cylindrical portion of the central nervous system that is encased in the spinal column. It is the link between the brain and most of the peripheral nervous system. The spinal cord and the brain together constitute the central nervous system. NeuroNames currently only defines the brain and its substructures.
