The term subgenual area 25, or Area subgenualis, refers to a subdivision of the cytoarchitecturally defined cingulate region of cerebral cortex. In the human it is a narrow band located in the caudal portion of the subcallosal area adjacent to the paraterminal gyrus from which it is separated by the posterior parolfactory sulcus. It is bounded by the prefrontal area 11 (Brodmann) rostrally and by the paraterminal gyrus caudally. |
