supplementary motor cortex


The term supplementary motor cortex refers to a functionally defined area on the medial surface of the superior frontal gyrus and a portion of the cingulate gyrus located in and adjacent to the cingulate sulcus. The supplementary motor cortex and the premotor cortex constitute the nonprimary motor cortex. They and the primary motor cortex constitute the motor cortex.
