temporal lobe (Ono)

The term temporal lobe (Ono) refers to a common alternate definition of the temporal lobe in which the boundary with the occipital lobe is defined on its lateral surface by a line connecting the preoccipital notch with the parieto-occipital sulcus. On the medial surface the boundary is defined by an approximately vertical line between the preoccipital notch and the calcarine sulcus rostral to its junction with the parieto-occipital sulcus. By this definition the fusiform gyrus and lingual gyrus are subdivided into temporal and occipital portions. In NeuroNames the entire fusiform gyrus is included in the temporal lobe and the entire lingual gyrus in the occipital lobe.
