temporal region


The term temporal region, or Regio temporalis, refers to a cytoarchitecturally defined portion of the cerebral cortex. It occupies most of the temporal lobe. It is composed of the parainsular area 52 (H), the internal transverse temporal area 41 (H), the external transverse temporal area 42 (H), the superior temporal area 22, the middle temporal area 21, the inferior temporal area 20, the ectorhinal area 36 (H), the occipitotemporal area 37 (H) and the temporopolar area 38 (H).
