In: HANDBOOK OF CHEMICAL NEUROANATOMY: THE PRIMATE NERVOUS SYSTEM, Part I, F Bloom, A Björklund, T Hökfelt (eds). Amsterdam: Elsevier, 1997.

Handbook chapter; English nomenclature; describes how NeuroNames and the Template Atlas fit into a longer-term project to develop a Brain Information Management System, which will provide immediate Web access to images illustrating neuroanatomical findings in formats useful for both research and teaching; demonstrates the use of sections from the Template Atlas downloaded from this Web site to illustrate neuroanatomic information for publication, e.g., pathways, gene expression and gene products revealed by special stains or autoradiography, stimulation sites, injection sites, and lesions; includes a comprehensive listing of structures from the NeuroNames brain hierarchy that have been identified in the macaque (Martin-97) and their morphologic homologues in the rat (Paxinos-86; Swanson-92).
