A listing of primate species published as a simple guide to serve as the taxonomic basis for a set of atlases envisaged by the author, which would provide biological data on the different species. The various species are classified only on readily recognizable external features. The author attempts to give a complete list of synonyms in English, German, French, Spanish and Italian to provide access to the early literature. Representative photographs of most species are provided, as are maps of the distribution of some species.
