This website is a neuroanatomical teaching resource developed at the Institut für Anatomie at the medical school of Heinrich-Heine Universität in Düsseldorf, Germany. It appears in English and German versions. The group headed by Professor Jürgen K. Mai is interested in the analysis of the structural basis of the human brain in order to understand its function and dysfunction. They use several approaches including, (1) comparative anatomy; (2) developmental anatomy; (3) analysis of brain affected by various neurodegenerative diseases; (4) expression and regulation of glycoconjugates in the brain during development, aging and disease.
