medial accessory oculomotor nucleus

The term medial accessory oculomotor nucleus refers to a group of cells located adjacent to the midline at the level of the red nucleus in the midbrain tegmentum of the human ( Paxinos-2012 ), macaque ( Paxinos-2009a ), rat ( Swanson-1998 ), and mouse ( Paxinos-2001 ). Functionally it belongs to the motor periaqueductal gray of the behavior control column ( Swanson-2004 ).
