Lamina quadrigemina (TEC)

The term Lamina quadrigemina (TEC) refers to the embryologic structure that is formed by two longitudinal eminences, one on each alar plate of the Mesencephalon (MBR), the precursor of the midbrain (MBR). These eminences become the superior colliculus (SUC) and inferior colliculus (INC) in the mature brain ( Carpenter-1983 ). Updated 27 Nov 2025.
