external lamina of the median eminence

The term external lamina of the median eminence refers to one of two subdivisions of the median eminence of the neurohypophysis in the intermediate hypothalamic region of the rat. The other is the internal lamina of the median eminence. Functionally it belongs to the parvicellular neuroendocrine cell groups of the brainstem motor system.
