posterior horizontal limb of the lateral fissure (ltfph)

The term posterior horizontal limb of the lateral fissure (ltfp) refers to the greater portion of the lateral fissure (ltf) as identified by dissection in the human ( Ono-1990 ). The ltfp extends caudally from the stem of the lateral fissure (ltfst) to the branching of the terminal ascending limb of the lateral fissure (ltfal) and the terminal descending limb of the lateral fissure (ltfdl). All side limbs of the ltf originate from the ltfp. The ltf of the macaque is not subdivided; Unlike the human ltf, it is straight and has no branches ( NeuroNames ). The ltf is not found in the smooth cerebral cortex (CTX) of the rat and mouse (NeuroNames ). Updated 27 Aug 2024 ).

Also known as: posterior limb of the lateral sulcus, Ramus posterior sulcus lateralis, Sulcus lateralis, ramus posterior, posterior ramus of Sylvian fissure, Ramus horizontalis posterior of Sylvian fissure, Ramus posterior fissurae sylvii, posterior horizontal limb of the lateral fissure
