insular cistern

The term insular cistern refers to the cerebrospinal fluid filled expansion of the subarachnoid space located between the insula and the overlying opercular region of primates. It is found in the human ( Schiebler-1999 ) and the macaque ( NeuroNames ). It is not present in rodents.
