opercular region (OPR)

The term opercular region (OPR) refers to the parts of the cerebral cortex (CTX) that cover the insula (INS). Identified by dissection in the human ( Ture-1999 ) and the macaque ( Krieg-1975 ). It consists of two parts, the frontoparietal operculum (OPRfp) and the temporal operculum (OPRtm)..The OPR is not found in the smooh cerebral cortex (CTX) of the rat and mouse ( NeuiroNames ).
