caudomedial zone of the solitary nucleus

The term caudomedial zone of the solitary nucleus refers to one of five parts of the solitary nucleus (Swanson) in the rat ( Swanson-2004 ). Functionally it is a component of the viscerosensory nuclei. The other zone, the rostromedial zone of the solitary nucleus, is involved in taste perception ( Swanson-2004 ).
