neurobehavioral control system (NBCS)

The term neurobehavioral control system (NBCS) refers to a functionally defined model of the nervous system, a nested combination of four sensorimotor subsystems ( instinctive control system, intuitive control system, adaptive control system, interrupt control system ) and three loop circuits ( cerebellar loop circuit, basal ganglia loop circuit, hippocampal loop circuit ) ( Bowden-2021 ). It is present in the human and macaque and the same in rat and mouse, except that rat and mouse lack prefrontal cortex ( Preuss-1995 Wallis-2012 ), which is a key component of the adaptive system.
